NAIAS Mobility Center Provides Transportation Options for Physically Challenged
Detroit, Mich., Jan. 2, 2012 - The North
American International Auto Show Mobility Center, premiering with
the 2012 edition of the NAIAS, will provide new transportation
options and opportunities for those living with disabilities.
"Living with a disability doesn't have to mean the end of
personal mobility," says NAIAS 2012 Chairman Bill Perkins. "Today
there are so many more options for those who are physically
challenged than there were just a few years ago. We're pleased to
bring together a group of manufacturers and equipment providers
that are committed to assisting those with special needs."
Located in Cobo Center's Michigan Hall, the NAIAS Mobility
Center will feature a variety of vehicles, accessories, vehicle
conversions, and adaptive devices that address special
transportation needs, as well as innovations in mobility. In
addition, vehicles that have been modified to accommodate disabled
drivers, and accessories that allow standard vehicles to be adapted
- all designed to help improve quality of life - will be on
display.
The Mobility Center will be adjacent to the indoor Pure Michigan
Ride & Drive Test Track, and include products from:
AutoAbility-Michigan, Chrysler Mobility, Creative Mobility Group,
Detroit Auto Salon Scooters, GoShichi Vehicles, Toyota Mobility,
and Vehicle Production Group.
"Transportation is an indispensable part of life for all
people," said Perkins. "It wasn't that long ago when being disabled
meant the end of personal mobility. Those days are gone," said
Perkins. "Today, our show is about satisfying the transportation
needs of people, and we are pleased to offer this exhibit area that
is completely focused on personal mobility."
