NAIAS Tuesday Packed with Visitors, Announcements and Reveals
TROY, MI - Jan. 9, 2011 - The 2011 North
American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is offering two distinct
press days this year, the first press
day, Mon., Jan. 10, will feature exciting worldwide,
never-before-seen products, as well as significant North American
introductions which will steer the direction of the industry for
years to come.
The second press day, Tues., Jan. 11, will showcase highly
anticipated innovative technological advancements by auto companies
and suppliers. NAIAS officials note more surprises are on the
horizon and will be providing updates up to show time, especially
with regard to the lineup of press conferences and critical
industry events on Tues., Jan. 11.
In addition to press conferences by WIKISPEED, Venturi and Li-ion
Motors, Tuesday morning will also feature a press conference from
Volvo at 9:10 a.m. Completing the day will be the EyesOn
Design Awards at 4 p.m. on the Michigan Hall stage.
"Tuesday is a big day for the 2011 NAIAS, particularly following a
packed Monday," said Barron Meade, chairman, 2011 NAIAS.
"With an anticipated 30-40 worldwide debuts taking place at the
show over two days, there will be significant announcements made on
both Monday and Tuesday that will have a large impact on the global
automotive industry and provide the attending media with a chance
to not only hear from the OEMs, but suppliers of the industry as
well."
The ripple effect of a jam-packed Monday, Jan. 10 press day bodes
well for the second day for media. Federal officials, some of which
are scheduled to appear at NAIAS on Monday, Jan. 10 to view
product unveilings, include Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi,
Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, Representative John Dingell,
Representative Sandy Levin, Representative Gary Peters,
Representative Hansen Clarke and Senator Debbie Stabenow.
Other key leaders who will continue to be on site through the week
will include Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis and Rob Bloom, U.S.
Department of Treasury. More governmental representatives
attending NAIAS will be announced by their offices shortly,
according to NAIAS officials.
