Troy, MI - Dec. 29, 2010 - Three sponsors with
the longest history with the event will be using the backdrop of
the globally-significant 2011 North American International Auto
Show (NAIAS) next month to showcase trendsetting products and
provide a direction to the automotive industry's future.
Michelin - Celebrating its 23rd year
at NAIAS, the company will feature a special display celebrating
highlights of the first 10 years of the Michelin Challenge Design
global competition along with an exciting display of characters
from Michelin's commercials. Highlighting the Michelin
Challenge Design presentation is a trio of full-size, futuristic GM
EN-V concepts making their NAIAS debut. Following
the "Plus 10" (2021) theme are models from Hyundai, several
holographically presented designs from students at the College for
Creative Studies, and winning designs from the nearly 1,000 entries
received in the annual global design competition. The 2011
NAIAS gives Michelin the unique distinction of being the only
sponsor to have been part of the global event since January 1989,
the first year NAIAS was designated an "international" show.
ZF - A leader in driveline and chassis
technologies, ZF celebrates a decade of involvement with
NAIAS. On Tues., Jan. 11 (10:20 a.m.), ZF will conduct a news
conference in its booth, which for the first time will be featured
in the main exhibition hall. The news conference will provide an
update on ZF's growing presence in the United States as well as an
all-new addition to its existing portfolio of environmentally
friendly transmissions. In addition, ZF will discuss upcoming
projects focusing on electromobility and fuel-saving light-weight
technology.
DENSO - The global supplier of advanced
products and technology for the automotive industry celebrates its
seventh year with NAIAS and will hold a press conference at 2:30
p.m. on Tues., Jan. 11. The company, with 25 manufacturing
facilities across North America, will discuss fuel efficiency with
a focus on Idle Start/Stop technology
"The role of sponsors such as Michelin, ZF and Denso are
significant not just for their long-term commitment to NAIAS but to
the technological advancements and innovation they represent to the
entire automotive industry," said Barron Meade, 2011 NAIAS
chairman. "Often we get focused on the unprecedented amount of
'final product' we unveil at NAIAS, but many of these vehicles may
never leave the drawing board without the forward thinking and
research of suppliers who make these dream vehicles reality. Seeing
the full spectrum of the industry is what NAIAS is about and these
featured partners literally drive that point home."
