Michelin Media Center:
The Connection for NAIAS

Now in its 23rd year at the NAIAS, the Michelin Media Center (Rooms O3-45/46 and M3-31/32) will reinforce its standing as the premier automotive press facility by expanding its footprint, seating capacity and connectivity in 2011. By far the largest (22,000 square feet) and most powerful media center network at any motor show, the Michelin Media Center features a large, hard-wired, high-speed fiber optic network designed to simultaneously support 800 media. With the increasing use of streaming video and large photo files, the Michelin Media Center has further refined its connectivity infrastructure to support a projected 30-percent jump in bandwidth demand at NAIAS 2011. The NAIAS Photo Center, too, has been expanded and will include a new, dedicated entrance for photographers.

NAIAS Synonymous with Design

NAIAS 2011 will be the world stage for some of the industry's most trend-setting vehicle designs and the backdrop for a host of influential international design programs. A sampling include: Designers' Night, a private event that brings together automotive designers from all over the world to experience an evening of Detroit jazz and an impressive collection of fine automotive art; EyesOn Design Awards, international design awards to honor and recognize the most significant automotive designs at NAIAS; Michelin Challenge Design, the prestigious global vehicle design competition that culminates at NAIAS, and AutoWeek Design Forum, an opportunity for automotive and design enthusiasts to learn more about the field from design notables, followed by a tour of NAIAS.

Momentum Builds for Smarter Living In Michigan

Since we first reported on "Smarter Living In Michigan," an impressive list of companies has signed up to showcase their products and technology as part of this interactive exhibition presented by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation with consulting support provided by DTE Energy. Located in Michigan Hall (Visit here for floor plan), the exhibit will highlight environmentally friendly developments in the global auto community, as well as examples of eco-friendly living that goes beyond the industry. Some technologies to be showcased include solar cars, rolling chassis, transit connect, charging stations, batteries and alternative energies. The NAIAS has been an enthusiastic supporter of alternative energy technology, allocating major portions of the show floor to "green" exhibits for the past few years.

Powerful Fuel, Promising Future

Carrying the "green" theme of "Smarter Living In Michigan" one step further will be the National Biodiesel Board's enlightening and interactive 90-minute biodiesel symposium during Industry Preview on Wednesday, Jan. 12. Media and industry representatives are invited to join the CEO and technical director of the board at the "Smarter Living In Michigan" exhibit as they discuss the latest industry, technical and legislative updates shaping the biodiesel industry today and on into the future. Several of the nation's leading automakers will share their thoughts on why they support biodiesel use in their vehicles and how this approach is benefitting their customers and the environment. For additional information, contact 734.904.3822.
