NAIAS 2013: A Snapshot of the Best the Industry Has to Offer!

NAIAS 2013: A Preview of the Best the Industry Has to Offer!

Clearly, the auto industry is on its way back, and the NAIAS 2013 will be yet another reflection of this positive momentum. With the healthy growth in new-car sales, NAIAS officials confirm the 2013 show will be the backdrop for some of the industry’s most spectacular worldwide and North American reveals. After meeting with global automakers during the Paris Motor Show, NAIAS representatives report that our show will unquestionably serve as a preview of the best the global industry has to offer. Show visitors can expect to see the return of Jaguar and Land Rover, and Chinese automaker Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., too, will have a presence at NAIAS 2013. To help facilitate breaking news at the show, media and manufacturers will also see continued infrastructure enhancements. From moving the show schedule a week later, to relocating the Michelin Media Center to Michigan Hall adjacent to Cobo Center’s spectacular, new three-story atrium, the NAIAS will offer an enhanced experience to unveil new products and to cover these reveals. The stage is set for another record-breaking year for NAIAS as it brings the world to Detroit.

The Michelin Media Center, which has served media from around the world for 25 shows, is expanding and moving closer to the action for the upcoming show. The media center and the broadcast center are moving from the third floor of Cobo Center to Michigan Hall (river level) to support the dramatic growth of the show and to provide the media with even greater resources and show accessibility. The move to Michigan Hall provides additional space and infrastructure to support the media as they cover NAIAS news. The Michelin Media Center will continue to provide a complete business center for all working media, as well as meals, snacks and beverages throughout the day. NAIAS Dates Adjusted for Added Convenience

NAIAS 2013 will begin a week later to make it even more convenient for worldwide journalists and auto industry executives to participate in the show. The objective is to provide some distance between the holidays and the NAIAS opening. NAIAS officials note that each year the show dates move up one day on the calendar so every five or six years adjustments need to be made to push the show back one week.

New Atrium to Become Signature Space in Cobo Center

A dramatic, new three-story glass atrium will greet visitors attending NAIAS 2013 and, in fact, will be the new venue for a number of key auto show events, including opening ceremonies, NACTOY and Charity Preview Ribbon-Cutting. The stunning new atrium, located just inside the main entrance, will give attendees spectacular views of the Detroit River and add a seamless connection from the main hall to the lower-level exhibition area. Serving as a focal point for the center, the atrium will feature an additional entrance along the riverfront, further enhancing traffic flow inside and out of Cobo Center. The atrium is yet another progression in Cobo’s three-year, $299 million transformation, slated for completion in 2014. The next step is the construction of a new grand ballroom and high-tech meeting rooms in the former Cobo Arena space.
