North American International Auto Show Public Show Continues to Outpace 2010

Saturday Welcomes Nearly 108,000 Attendees, Beating Same-Day Figure from 2010

Troy, MI., Jan. 23, 2011 - Entering its final day, the 2011 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) continues to improve upon last year's numbers by drawing in car and truck enthusiasts researching vehicles they may want to own in the near future. Yesterday's attendance at NAIAS, one the world's premier events, was 107,620, surpassing Saturday's attendance in 2010, which was 105,118.

This marks seven out of eight days since Jan. 15 where the show has surpassed last year's attendance for a given day.  In particular, Friday, Jan. 21's 75,327 attendance figure broke a 1993 record of 74,900.  Today is the final day of the NAIAS Public Show with the event closing at 7 p.m. (Note: No admittance after-6 p.m.)

"Solid attendance by the public is further proof of the North American International Auto Show's uniqueness," said Barron Meade, chairman, 2011 NAIAS. "This year, we drew nearly 5,500 international media, as well as global government and industry policy setters, to see the industry's top, never-before-seen vehicles. Clearly, with attendance like this, we are bringing in substantial numbers of consumers who are looking to ultimately buy the best vehicles manufacturers have to offer.  With Media Preview, Industry Preview, Charity Preview and an exceptionally well-attended Public Show, NAIAS is a show for everyone--four shows in one."
